Hey, I'm Jason 👋
I have experience with working in a start-up environment, professional full-stack developer with a focus on Flutter and Node.JS backend (using NestJS). Also an experienced AWS infrastructure engineer. I have an interest in gaming, game development, cloud technology, self-hosting, virtual and augmented reality, and security research
What's with the name?
SquaredX is the username I use for most of my online activities and I didn't want the website to be just my name because I felt like that was too personal. Using my username gives a little bit of separation between my professional work and my online persona.
Obviously the name is subject to change but I think its great for what the website is trying to achieve for now.
Why This Blog?
I started my blog as a personal commitment to not just finish my projects but to thrive in them. This space is more than a blog; it's a community for tech enthusiasts, game developers, and startup aficionados. Whether you're knee-deep in code or brainstorming your next big idea, I believe we can all motivate each other to reach new heights.
What's going on
Speaking of projects, let's talk a little bit about what I have going on at the moment!
Game Dev
Currently I am working a small game project to learn the Godot engine. Nothing public has been announced at the moment.
Web Dev
Personal Website - Next.js, TailwindCSS, Vercel
A sleek, professional portfolio separate from this site, to act as a virtual resume to show of my projects. This is a smaller project I'm working on to exercise my frontend webdev muscles and to learn Next.js.
SquaredX.dev Theme - Ghost, TailwindCSS
A modified version of the Casper theme by Ghost with some modifications to page layout and SEO. I also integrated TailwindCSS into the theme to practice using the framework.
Mobile Dev
I have no active mobile projects right now but I would like to work on some native iOS application in 2024. Stay tuned!
Other
With all the hype around VR and AR at the tail end of 2023, I would like to build some small projects for the Quest and/or the visionOS platforms. Having taken a university course in VR game development and created several VR experiences in Unity, I have had an ever-growing itch to work on some sort of XR project.
